Riding the Road to Success

Namsi Deogam’s Transformative Journey in Goat Rearing

Namsi Deogam, a resident of Badagaon village in Badagaon Gram Panchayat, began her goat-rearing journey just three years ago. Before meeting with Nydhee staff, she had no experience in livestock management and struggled with limited income opportunities. However, with the training and guidance provided by Nydhee, Namsi was able to take her first step toward building a sustainable livelihood by starting with a small herd of goats.

Applying Best Practices for Growth

Armed with Nydhee’s training on best practices, Namsi was quick to implement everything she learned. From regular vaccinations and disease prevention methods to proper feeding routines, she ensured her goats received the highest level of care. Over time, her small herd began to grow. Today, she proudly owns 20 goats, all of which are healthy and thriving under her attentive care.

Turning Livestock into Livelihood

Over the past three years, Namsi has been able to sell goats at local markets, generating steady and reliable income for her family. Thanks to her diligent application of livestock management techniques, her goats have fetched good prices. With the earnings from these sales, Namsi fulfilled a long-standing dream: she purchased a motorbike for her husband. This purchase not only symbolized her success but also improved the family’s mobility and their overall quality of life.

Buck Replacement: Adding Value and Income

One of the key practices Namsi adopted is buck replacement, a method she learned from Nydhee’s training. By rotating her male goat (buck) among different households in the village, she helps to ensure genetic diversity and healthier offspring in the community. This service has made her buck highly sought after, bringing Namsi additional income. Her leadership and generosity in sharing resources have earned her the trust and admiration of her fellow villagers.

A Healthier, More Resilient Herd

Namsi’s dedication to best practices has paid off with significant improvements in the health of her goats. She adheres strictly to the vaccination schedules provided by Nydhee and ensures her goats receive proper nutrition and deworming treatments. This has dramatically reduced mortality rates within her herd and increased the productivity of her livestock. Namsi also maintains a clean and safe environment for her goats, contributing further to their well-being.

A Role Model for the Community

Namsi’s journey has made her a role model for other women in Badagaon village. Inspired by her success, many women have begun their own goat-rearing ventures, following her lead. Namsi takes pride in sharing her knowledge and experiences, helping to empower other women to find their own paths to financial independence. Her story stands as a testament to the power of determination, proper training, and community support.

Looking Ahead: A Sustainable Future

As she continues to grow her herd and diversify her income streams, Namsi has her sights set on future goals. She plans to reinvest earnings from her next goat sale into farming equipment to further improve the productivity of her family’s farm. By combining her livestock business with farming activities, she is ensuring a stable and sustainable livelihood for her family. Her story is one of resilience and hope, demonstrating the profound impact that training and support programs like Nydhee’s can have on rural women’s lives.
