- Upscaling Health & Nutrition

We believe that good health and nutrition are fundamental to breaking the cycle of poverty and achieving long-term well-being in rural and tribal communities. Our approach is holistic—addressing both immediate health needs and the underlying social, economic, and behavioural determinants of poor nutrition. With a strong emphasis on women’s leadership, migrant inclusion, and community ownership, our work ensures that vulnerable populations can lead healthier, more resilient lives.
Our Core Focus Areas
Promoting Reproductive, Maternal, and Adolescent Health
We empower women, adolescent girls, and youth to access equitable, informed, and dignified health services through community-led awareness, peer education, and behavior change initiatives. Our interventions focus on reproductive and menstrual health, maternal care, and adolescent well-being—addressing deep-rooted taboos and knowledge gaps.
By strengthening last-mile access to health services, promoting convergence with public systems, and building community ownership, we enable improved health-seeking behaviours and outcomes—especially among underserved and remote populations.
Nutrition Security Through Nutri-Gardens and Livestock
We promote nutrition-sensitive, agroecological food systems to address household-level malnutrition and dietary gaps. Through community-led nutri-gardens, we support families to cultivate diverse, seasonal, and nutrient-rich crops using local seeds, seed banks, and indigenous practices—ensuring year-round access to 10–15 varieties of vegetables.
Complementing this, we promote sustainable small livestock systems (goatery and backyard poultry) through improved, low-cost Package of Practices (PoPs) to ensure better survival, productivity, and access to protein-rich foods. By integrating food production, local knowledge, and behavior change, we strengthen household nutrition, food security, and resilience in vulnerable communities.
Strengthening Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)
We address the heightened health risks faced by informal workers and migrant households by promoting occupational health and safety awareness, preventive practices, and early risk identification. Our interventions include action research, and basic health screenings, safety education, and facilitation of access to public health systems and social protection mechanisms.
We strengthen the capacities of frontline workers (3As), community volunteers, and local institutions to respond effectively to the needs of migrant labourers—especially during migration cycles, high-risk employment, and crisis situations. Through a rights-based and community-driven approach, we aim to reduce vulnerabilities, improve health outcomes, and ensure safer, more dignified working conditions.
Community-Led Nutrition Advocacy and Convergence
We drive community-led nutrition action and behavior change through food and nutrition festivals, health days, cooking demonstrations, and mother support groups—promoting improved dietary practices, hygiene, and care behaviors.
Our approach strengthens last-mile convergence by closely engaging with Panchayati Raj Institutions and frontline workers and ICDS functionaries, ensuring effective linkages with key government programmes such as POSHAN Abhiyaan, Janani Suraksha Yojana, and VB—G RAM G. By fostering community ownership and system convergence, we enhance service delivery, improve nutrition outcomes, and ensure sustained food and nutrition security for vulnerable households.
Through this multi-pronged approach, we aim to foster food sovereignty, ensure better health outcomes, and empower communities—especially women and youth—to become active agents of change in building a healthier, more equitable society.
